A Common Grounded Type Dual-Mode Five-Level Transformerless Inverter for Photovoltaic Applications

This article presents a novel dual-mode five-level common grounded type (5L-DM-CGT) transformerless inverter topology for medium-power application with wide input voltage range (200–400 V). It consists of nine semiconductor switches, two inner flying-capacitors, and small LC filter at the output side. Due to direct connection negative terminal photovoltaic neutral point grid, there is no leakage current in 5L-DM-CGT. Depending on magnitude voltage, converter can operate both buck boost mode produce same ac voltage. The theoretical analysis shows advantages various industrial applications. Finally, laboratory test results are presented verify analysis. Measurement show that proposed rated 1 kW has around 97±1% efficiency over load peak 98.96% 130 VA 99% 122 mode.
